A moderate earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale rocked Crete, according to a report by the Athens Geodynamic Institute on Friday, May 30, at approximately 3:40 pm local time.
The epicenter of the tremor was pinpointed at 8km northwest of the town of Archolochori in the Heraklion regional unit at a depth of 13km.
No damage was reported or injuries were reported, but locals took to the streets due to the earthquake-prone region.
Last week a 6.1 quake on the Richter scale in Crete caused damage to old edifices and also resulted in landslides on main routes.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) measured the quake at 4.5 on the Richter scale.
