A 7-year-old girl tragically lost her life after crashing through a glass balcony door while visiting a relative in the central Athens suburb of Kallithea.
She was rushed to Agia Sofia Children’s Hospital, where doctors fought for over 40 minutes to save her. Despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.
According to Greek police, the accident occurred when the child ran into a closed glass balcony door, suffering a severe abdominal injury.
The exact circumstances are still under investigation, but initial reports suggest she was running toward the balcony to retrieve something when the collision happened.
Her 37-year-old aunt, who was responsible for supervising the child, has been arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter due to negligence.
