A wildfire was reported on Tuesday afternoon at the Meseo site of the Oreokastro district near the northern Greece city of Thessaloniki.
The blaze erupted in a forested area. According to an announcement by the fire brigade, 74 fire-fighters operating 21 were battling the flames, assisted by 10 water-dropping aircraft.
An alert was sent just after 20.00 local time via SMS, calling on local residents and passersby to remain vigilant.
Meanwhile, a fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon at a prison near the central Greece city of Volos, with four engines and 13 firefighters dispatched to the scene.
According to reports, inmates had reportedly set mattresses on fire.
No injuries were reported.
